a bit late <strong>and</strong> were refused admission on the<br />
grounds that the club was full. They texted<br />
their friends who said the club was half empty.<br />
Brendan is black, while Claire, Mike <strong>and</strong><br />
Michelle are white.<br />

depression, it was made clear to her that the<br />
company didn’t want anyone with mental<br />
health issues in management. Eventually she felt<br />
she had no choice but to leave the company.<br />
5. Michelle applied for a job in a Catholic<br />
primary school. She was <strong>of</strong>fered the job<br />
<strong>and</strong> accepted it. A week later she was asked<br />
whether she had a Catholic Religious Certificate<br />
(showing she was qualified to teach religion).<br />
She said she didn’t, that she was a member <strong>of</strong><br />
the Church <strong>of</strong> Irel<strong>and</strong>, but that she was familiar<br />
with the religious education programme <strong>and</strong><br />
willing to teach it. She was told that wouldn’t<br />
be a problem, but a few days later she was<br />
informed that proper procedures had not been<br />
followed <strong>and</strong> the job <strong>of</strong>fer was withdrawn.<br />
