2.1.3 Preparation <strong>of</strong> reagents<br />
KHB was filtered using a 0.22 µm filter and the pH was checked daily.<br />
KHB solution containing 25 µM Deferoxamine and 5 µM DETC was used to<br />
prepare the spin probe, 1-hydroxy-3-methoxycarbonyl-2,2,5,5-<br />
tetramethylpyrrolidine (CMH). The solutions were prepared fresh just before<br />
use. Filtered 0.9% NaCl was used to prepare 1.6 mM FeSO4 and 3.2 mM DETC<br />
solutions for nitric oxide measurements. PBS was obtained from Biochrom AG,<br />
Germany.<br />
