ITINERARY<br />

Auckland / Hot Water Beach<br />

Head from Auckland to the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. Lace your boots and take a spectacular<br />

walk or opt for kayaking in turquoise waters to golden bays and hidden coves. Bring your swim gear<br />

for a dip at your beachside camp and the chance to dig your own thermal pool. (D)<br />

Coromandel Peninsula / Rotorua / Taupo<br />

Head to the heart of the North Island for the adventure and culture of Rotorua - home to boiling<br />

mud pools and spectacular geysers. Choose to experience this thermal wonderland’s thrills and take<br />

a zipline canopy tour, agroventure or an outstanding mountain bike trail through native forest. The<br />

next morning, visit the Wai-O-Tapu geothermal wonderland before cycling or hiking by one of the<br />

World’s largest crater lakes. This evening, opt for a dip in the camp’s soothing thermal pools. (2B, 2D)<br />

Tongariro Alpine Crossing / Kapiti Coast<br />

Experience one of the greatest one day walks, the World Heritage listed Tongariro Alpine Crossing<br />

(optional). This hike is unrivalled for the variety of landscape! Alternatively, relax or cycle in this<br />

beautiful area. Tonight, camp on the Kapiti Coast and enjoy a spectacular sunset. (B, L, D)<br />

Kapiti Coast / Wellington / Picton<br />

Head to Wellington for cool cafés, funky shops and bars. Opt to wander the free Te Papa museum,<br />

take a movie tour or simply savour the unique culture of NZ’s capital. Enjoy an evening ferry crossing<br />

through stunning Cook Strait to the picturesque Marlborough Sounds with a final stop in Picton.<br />

Picton / Kaikoura<br />

Head from Picton along the scenic Pacific coast to Kaikoura with excellent cycle and hike options on<br />

a coastline where towering mountains meet the ocean. Go sea kayaking or whale watching and enjoy<br />

close encounters with seals and sea birds. This evening munch on a locally-caught seafood dinner at<br />

your beachside camp and drift to sleep to the sound of waves. (D)<br />

Kaikoura / Christchurch / Rangitata<br />

Enjoy a spectacular sunrise and opt for a highly recommended dolphin swim where it’s not unusual to<br />

swim with 50 or more of these fantastic, acrobatic creatures! Pick up those starting in Christchurch<br />

before heading to camp at the foot of the Southern Alps. (B, D)<br />

Rangitata Gorge / Lake Pukaki<br />

Wake to spectacular views and opt to white water raft through the heart of the Alps on the mighty<br />

Rangitata River. Check out the numerous cycle and walk options including the scenic Lake Tekapo<br />

- possibly the most picturesque spot in New Zealand. This evening you’ll camp by the shimmering<br />

waters of Lake Pukaki, perfect for a refreshing dip. (B, L, D)<br />

Lake Pukaki / Aoraki National Park / Otago Peninsula<br />

Explore the dramatic snow-capped ranges around Aoraki National Park with a hike to the foot of NZ’s<br />

highest mountain. Cycle to your spectacular camp set on a remote beach complete with panoramic<br />

views of the Pacific Ocean. Once you’ve settled in, opt to visit the nearby penguin colony. The next<br />

morning, wake to the sound of the ocean then head out to discover the bizarre Moeraki Boulders<br />

and the world’s steepest street. Later on, choose to get your tastebuds tingling with a visit to the<br />

Cadbury’s Chocolate Factory or Speight’s Brewery. Tonight’s camp will be in the country’s wildlife<br />

capital, home to albatross and penguins, the incredible Otago Peninsula, (2B, L, 2D)<br />
