Auckland / Raglan<br />

Arrive into Auckland at any time and head out to explore before<br />

meeting your fellow travellers. On Day 2, take the scenic route via<br />

Bridal Veil Falls to the rugged yet artsy surf town of Raglan. The<br />

afternoon is free for optional surf lessons, sea kayaking or Maori<br />

bone carving, before a sunset dinner cruise on the harbour. (B, D)<br />

Tongariro National Park / Rotorua<br />

Enjoy breakfast at a working eco farm, before an optional visit to<br />

see the glow worms at Waitomo Caves. Head up to Tongariro NP for<br />

short walks in this pristine, volcanic environment and a night in an<br />

historic hotel. Drive through the Lake Taupo region to geothermal<br />

Rotorua to visit a Maori village and relax in the hot pools. (2B, D)<br />

Christchurch / Franz Josef Glacier<br />

Fly from Rotorua to the ‘Garden City’ of Christchurch and enjoy an<br />

orientation walk around the sights. On Day 6, cross the stunning<br />

Southern Alps aboard the legendary TranzAlpine train. Stay in a<br />

rainforest lodge at Franz Josef and pick from multiple options on Day<br />

Queenstown<br />

Follow the coast-hugging road down the wild West Coast to the<br />

outdoor resort of Queenstown, famous for its vast array of adrenalin<br />

Embark on a cruise through the wilderness of Doubtful Sound, with<br />

Raglan<br />

Take a scenic drive to a conservation farm whose ecosystem has<br />

been designed to attract native birds and animals. Pick up the pace<br />

by sea kayaking across a harbour for a delicious picnic lunch. Soak up<br />

Raglan’s breezy, laid-back way of life at an eco-camp overlooking the<br />

Tasman Sea, and brace yourself for an included surf lesson! By night,<br />

this is the perfect place for an optional fish ‘n’ chips dinner. (2B, L, D)<br />

Waitomo / Rotorua<br />

Start your day with an optional caving trip or inner-tube ride through<br />

a unique glow worm cave at Waitomo? Make your way to geothermal<br />

Rotorua to check out its bubbling mud pools and geysers. Get to<br />

know the locals on an evening visit to a Marae (Maori meeting place)<br />

for a traditional ‘Hangi’ (feast) and to learn the legendary Haka. (B, D)<br />

Tongariro National Park<br />

<strong>Travel</strong> by Lake Taupo to Tongariro NP where, in season, you can<br />

tackle the volcanic landscapes of the Tongariro Crossing, NZ’s most<br />

spectacular one-day trek. Rest up for the night at a mountain lodge<br />

Wellington<br />

Head to NZ’s beautiful capital, Wellington and check out Te Papa,<br />
