Arrive into Adelaide at any time and head out to explore before<br />

meeting your group this evening. On Day 2, enjoy wine tasting in the<br />

beautiful Clare Valley. Overnight in the historic town of Quorn. (B)<br />

Wilpena Pound / William Creek / Coober Pedy<br />

Take time out on Day 3 to explore the scenery of the Flinders Ranges<br />

where Wilpena Pound stands out as a stunning natural amphitheatre<br />

in the mountains. Enjoy a night at Beltana Homestead before tackling<br />

the remote Oodnadatta Track, strewn with historic settler sites, dry<br />

salt lakes and thermal springs. Make your way to Coober Pedy for a<br />

unique overnight stop at an underground hostel. (3B, 2L, 2D)<br />

Uluru (Ayers Rock)<br />

Experience the colours of sunset and sunrise at Uluru, learn of the<br />

rock’s significance to local Aborigines on the Mala Walk and then bed<br />

Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) / Kings Canyon / Alice Springs<br />

Enjoy hikes in the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta and through the<br />

incredible rock formations of Kings Canyon, before a night in the<br />

Ghan Train / Katherine / Darwin<br />

Free day to explore Alice Springs before boarding the Ghan Train for<br />

the overnight trip north. A four-hour stop in Katherine gives you time<br />

to see its namesake gorge on optional walks, boats and heli rides.<br />

Your itinerary varies by season (see p.99 for more details) but you’ll<br />

see the best of Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks, including rock<br />

Enjoy a guided walk at the natural amphitheatre of Wilpena Pound<br />

to see the area’s indigenous art. Tonight, we promise you’ll sleep like<br />

a baby wrapped up in your ‘swag’ under the stars. Day 4; travel the<br />

rugged Oodnadatta Track, visiting the Arabunna Aboriginal Centre<br />

and opting for a flight above the salt flats of Lake Eyre. (2B, 2L, 2D)<br />

Coober Pedy / Uluru (Ayers Rock)<br />

Head today to the world’s opal mining capital, Coober Pedy, where<br />

you’ll take a guided tour of a mine before spending the night at a<br />

unique hostel, built underground to escape the summer heat. Cross<br />

into the Northern Territory to witness sunset at Uluru, and enjoy the<br />

Mala Walk around the base of the rock on Day 7. (3B, L, D)<br />

Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) / Kings Canyon<br />

Continue to the red domes of Kata Tjuta where, weather permitting,<br />

you can hike the Valley of the Winds and perhaps even opt for a<br />

scenic helicopter flight over the area. Continue on to Kings Canyon<br />

for one last night in a tent or swag - your choice. (B, L, D)<br />

Kings Canyon / Alice Springs<br />

Spend the morning hiking the valleys and gorges of dramatic Kings<br />

Canyon before heading towards the remote capital of the Outback,<br />
