Port Macquarie / Barrington Tops / Katoomba<br />
Try your hand at ‘hanging ten’ with an optional surf lesson, or alternatively, relax with a walk along<br />
the beach. Other optional activities include heading to the golf course filled with kangaroos, a river<br />
kayak or the crazy sport of wave rafting. Continue south to Port Macquarie for a visit the local koala<br />
hospital which has been treating sick and injured koalas since 1973. It’s then on to a secluded river<br />
lodge where you’ll relax and enjoy the Aussie bush with plenty of hiking and mountain biking options<br />
in the morning. Next, travel onto Katoomba in the heart of the Blue Mountains. (2B, D)<br />
Blue Mountains / Sydney / Alice Springs<br />
Welcome to the World Heritage Blue Mountains. Home to the famous Three Sisters rock formations,<br />
you’ll wake bright and early. Your guide will then take you on a walk to witness the vast land around<br />
you. In the afternoon, make your way to Sydney. Check in then meet your group for dinner. The next<br />
day, complete your East Coast adventure by cruising around the most famous harbour in the world,<br />
Sydney Harbour, past the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon<br />
and all of Day 17 exploring some more of Sydney’s famous attractions. Opt for a swim or stroll at<br />
Bondi or visit the Hunter Valley to sample fine Australia wine. On Day 18 fly at anytime to Alice<br />
Springs, the gateway to the Northern Territory (not included). (2B, D)<br />
Alice Springs / Uluru / Kata Tjuta / Kings Canyon<br />
Your Northern Territory adventure begins bright and early with a stop at the Outback Camel Farm at<br />
Stuarts Well where you can ride a camel (optional). After lunch and your arrival at Uluru – Kata Tjuta<br />
National Park. Your guide will then take you on an interpretive walk around the base of ‘the Rock’.<br />
Those choosing to climb will have the opportunity to do so, weather permitting. It’s then time to<br />
watch the ever-changing colours of Uluru at sunset. Get up early for sunrise then take a short drive<br />
to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), an aboriginal word for “many heads”. Here your guide will lead you on a<br />
hike through the dry creek beds, domes and beautiful wilderness of the ‘Valley of the Winds’. After<br />
lunch, leave Uluru for the drive to Kings Creek Station, a working cattle farm. (B, 2L, 2D)<br />
Kings Canyon / Alice Springs / Banka Banka Cattle Station<br />
This morning take a guided walk to see the towering walls, crevices and plateaus of Watarrka (Kings<br />
Canyon). Visit the Amphitheatre and the Lost City. After lunch, enjoy the return journey back to Alice Springs<br />
arriving in the late afternoon. Enjoy Day 22 at leisure and either relax or explore the Red Centre township<br />
of Alice Springs. The next day adventure through the ‘Territory’ to Darwin begins. Just north of Alice Springs<br />
is the Tropic of Capricorn. Further along the track are the Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu) which are a collection<br />
of gigantic granite boulders magically balanced on top of one another. The day winds to a close north of<br />
Tennant Creek at historic Banka Banka Cattle Station where you camp for the night. (B, 2L, D)<br />
Banka Banka / Mataranka / Katherine<br />
No trip to the ‘Territory’ is complete without a visit to the Daly Waters Pub, an important watering<br />
hole for explorers and drovers in days gone by and now great for a cold beer, a bit of history and a<br />
‘fair dinkum outback experience’! Later in the day soak in the Mataranka Thermal Pools. (B, L, D)<br />
Katherine / Nitmiluk National Park / Darwin / Kakadu National Park<br />
Take a short drive to the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park. Ancient sandstone has been<br />
carved away by the Katherine River to create a deep and picturesque gorge. In the afternoon, watch<br />
the changing landscape on the way to Darwin where you will spend the night. The first stop the next<br />
morning, is the Mary River Wetlands where you’ll take a cruise to spot ‘crocs’ and other wildlife.<br />
The Bowali Visitor Centre is a good place to purchase Aboriginal arts and crafts before your late<br />
afternoon arrival at Ubirr for magnificient views. (B, 2L, D)<br />
Kakadu National Park / Litchfield National Park / Darwin<br />
Spend the morning at Gunlom Falls where you can swim at the bottom of the waterfall and climb to<br />
the top of the falls. Relax in a natural infinity pool with a grand view of the Arnhem Land escarpment,<br />
take a dip in the sandy middle pool and swim under a waterfall in the rear pool. <strong>Travel</strong> via Batchelor<br />
to an overnight campsite near Litchfield National Park. Today is spent exploring the waterfalls,<br />
spring-fed streams and rugged sandstone escarpments of Litchfield National Park. Highlights<br />
include the large magnetic and cathedral termite mounds and swimming in and hiking at Wangi Falls<br />
(seasonal). Go for a final swim in the waterfalls at Buley Rockhole before your early evening arrival<br />
back in Darwin. (2B, 2L, D)<br />
Darwin<br />
Top off your fantastic adventure with two free days in Darwin to unwind or explore further. If you’ve<br />
opted for a night out on the town then you may wish to take things slower. If not, then there’s plenty<br />
to see and do around Darwin. Bid farewell to your travel buddies as your tour ends on Day 30.<br />
