The Chinesegovernment is banning production anddistribution of the thinnest plastic bagsin a bid to curb the “white pollution” thatis taking over the countryside. The movemay save as much as 37 million barrels ofoil currently used to produce the plastictotes, according to China Trade News. Inthe meantime, my role as a contemporaryenvironmental artist allows me to recyclethese materials and to create artworks thatI hope both express beauty and their ownunique environmental messages.28
