Director, Carolinas School of Ministry5. Camp Development/Operations BoardWe, your Camp Board, submit the following report:1. The D. Moody Gunter Camp & Retreat Center sponsored 67 day and 113overnight events this year with a total of 14, 474 guests, an increase of 459.We were pleased to host 10 Carolinas School of Ministry classes along withone Faculty Retreat. We host the <strong>District</strong> Children’s Bible Quiz, Children’sMission Fair, Prime Time, Pastors’ Prayer Summits, Youth and ChildrenCamps, Family Camp, and we provide pastors a room without cost for rest,restoration, and preparation. We also promote Camp Work Days whereNazarenes from across the state and beyond come to invest themselves inthe ministry of the camp through “sweat equity.” We continue to look foropportunities to invest in the ministry efforts of the South Carolina <strong>District</strong>.While our goal is to invest in South Carolina Nazarenes at everyopportunity, we also welcome the opportunity to provide our facility to asmany other ministry groups as possible.2. Family Camp was wonderful. Nearly all private and district housing unitsand RV sites were filled all week again this year. Outstanding musicprovided by Rev. Greg and Dr. Geri Rosser assisted by EverPraise ofTrevecca Nazarene University set the worship tone. Powerful messagesfrom the ministry team of Dr. Nelson Perdue and Rev. Susie Shellenbergerinspired all. Morning devotions led by various pastors and a Pastors’Seminar on “Formational Worship” led by Rev. Greg Rosser were wellattended. The <strong>District</strong> IMPACT Team presented a mini concert on YouthNight. Biker Night was high-lighted by Biker Ministry opportunities. Areception honoring retiring camp manager Dennis Johnson with “gifts-aplenty”was given following lunch on Sunday afternoon and a Singspirationservice concluded the week of blessings. Total weekly attendance was5484. The expense offering total was $24,000. Received on New DiningHall, $11,206.43.3. Jr. and Sr. High camps were held separately this year with 241 inattendance. Both camps participated in a missions trip to repair, restore,and refresh a former school building in Saluda, South Carolina, that is nowa community center.4. Attendance at the children’s camps is projected to reach 230. The SouthCarolina <strong>District</strong> is blessed to have such excellent and dedicated leadershipin both the youth and children’s departments.As this report is being written, the contractor is pouring the floor for the new dininghall. “IT IS HAPPENING” – Praise God! Thanks to the continued investments ofSouth Carolina Nazarenes and many others, the ministry of your camp continues toincrease.
