There were 251 votes cast; 179 yes votes and 72 no.Report was adopted as presented.Bill Ulmet, tenured evangelist, gave a report on behalf of the evangelists.Dr. Middendorf encouraged calling of evangelists.Larry Wagner gave a report on the Carolinas School of Ministry. Alumnusof the Year award was given to Jerry Branham. Distinguished Service Award waspresented to Milton Harrington for his years of teaching at Carolinas School ofMinistry. Michael Johnson announced an upcoming golf tournament to raisescholarship funds for TNU. Attention was called to the Nixon EndowmentScholarship Award.Auditing review was done. Motion was made and seconded to accept thisreview, and it was adopted.Announcements and thanks were given to all who helped with the<strong>Assembly</strong>.Motion was made and seconded to allow the <strong>District</strong> Secretary to edit andharmonize the minutes. Motion passed. Motion was made and seconded to adjournthe <strong>District</strong> <strong>Assembly</strong> at the closing of the ordination service this evening. Motionpassed. Bill Ulmet was asked to pray the closing prayer.Ordination ServiceTuesday, July 26, 2011, 7:00 p.m.Dr. Eddie Estep welcomed everyone to the <strong>District</strong> <strong>Assembly</strong> OrdinationService, made announcements, and read scripture from Acts 13:3.Processional: As the congregation sang “Holiness Unto the Lord,” the threeretiring elders and spouses and the ordinand and spouse were led into the sanctuary.Statement of Purpose and Invocation: Dr. Jesse Middendorf explained that thepurpose of the ordination service is to celebrate the call of God on the lives of menand women to preach the gospel and to devote themselves full-time to the service ofChrist and His Church in behalf of the kingdom of God. He explained that theservice was both a time of sacredness and celebration. Dr. Middendorf then led thecongregation in prayer.Scripture Reading: Rev. Billy Williams, secretary of the Ministerial StudiesBoard, read Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-16.Dr. Estep led the congregation in reading The Apostles’ Creed.Recognition of Retiring Ministers: Rev. and Mrs. Bob Albert, Rev. and Mrs.George Gardner, and Rev. and Mrs. Dennis Johnson were called to the platform. Dr.Estep read biographical information on each retiree. They were granted the status ofretired assigned elders in the Church of the Nazarene.
