South Carolina District Hispanic Ministries ReportI praise the Lord for a year of work in which we have been able to advance with theHispanic Ministry in the South Carolina District. This year we have achievedsignificant progress in the starting of new churches in West Columbia, Greenwood,Spartanburg, and Midland Valley, as well as we established a church in the PerryCorrectional Center in Pelzer, South Carolina. We had four Spiritual Retreats, "Encounter with God," through the year–one everythree months at the D. Moody Gunter Camp and Retreat Center as a strategy to gainand encourage new believers. A total of 200 people between the new churches andthe Greenville Hispanic congregation participated and accepted Christ as their Lordand Savior. As of today, we are still working with them in the discipleship process. On the other hand, we have obtained the approval of an agreement with the SouthAmerican Nazarene Theological Seminary in Quito, Ecuador, to prepare Spanishspeakingministers to lead and work in outreaching the Hispanic population in SouthCarolina. At the present moment we have 34 students officially enrolled in theseminary. Finally, I want to thank District Superintendent Dr. Eddie Estep, our Senior Pastor ofthe First Church of the Nazarene in Greenville, Rev. Chuck Fountain, and otherpastors for their support and for believing in the existence of a missionary need in theHispanic population in the South Carolina District. I pray the Almighty God toopen doors to further advance in the process of establishing Hispanic churches inSouth Carolina.Respectfully submitted,JAVES MUNOZDistrict Hispanic Ministries DirectorC.
