For South Carolina Nazarene churches that have paid their EducationBudget, TNU will match 2-to-1 any amount the local church sends in for theirstudents up to a $500 check. So a student may receive up to $500 from the localchurch and TNU will add up to $1,000 to make it up to a $1,500 Church MatchScholarship.15. That church boards assume responsibility to see that seven percent ofthe local church’s offering is sent to the District Treasurer each week.2. That our churches and departments have their treasurer’s booksaudited at the end of the statistical church year preferably by a qualified accountant,or by a competent committee, and that a letter is sent to the district office verifyingthis audit. This is to be verified on the annual pastor’s report.3. That all church records are filed at the end of each statistical churchyear under the supervision of the church board, and that confidentiality be properlymaintained.4. That the district superintendent may meet with the local church boardon his visit and review the pastor’s salary and compensation.5. That our churches pay full-time evangelists approximately twice theirpastor’s salary. Travel expenses and Social Security taxes should be in addition tothe compensation provided.6. That our people be encouraged to exercise the stewardship ofpossessions and annuities and life loans in behalf of the church. We furtherrecommend that the pastors use every means to conduct an active bequest programthrough the local congregation.7. That each church observe Nazarene Bible College Day on Sunday,October 2, 2011, and Nazarene Theological Seminary Day on Sunday, January 29,2012, by distributing publicity materials and receiving an offering.Pastoral CareCare for our pastors is a biblical concept and practice that needs to becarefully considered by our church boards. Realizing that staffing and financingresources of the churches can vary, we urge the appropriate committees to study andrecommend action annually in each of the areas below. Churches receiving districtsupport must comply with existing district policy regarding local church finance.116
