Before the spare board can be installed it is necessary that the subfloor is
cleaned carefully. Bauwerk PVAC glue is now applied to the groove and tongue
and the new board can be laid into its final position. The installed floor board
should be loaded with weight during the glue’s setting time in order to achieve
a flush and even floor.
12. Partial repairs of EASY-CLEAN oil surfaces
Clean the floor thoroughly by a dry and/or damp method before renovation.
Mask the damaged or worn down strips along the joints (Picture 1) with
masking tape (e.g. yellow “Tesakrep”).
Sand any damage to the oiled surface (e.g. scratches), discolouration of the
parquet wood (e.g. spots) or heavily worn down areas first with a coarse and
then with a fine sanding product (120/150 grade sandpaper) in the direction of
the wood fibre (Picture 2). The sanding must be done carefully and thoroughly
right up to the masking tape. It is important that no factory-applied oiling
remains on the strip since this will reduce the wood’s capability to absorb the
newly applied oil and will thus lead to an uneven appearance.
Treat parquet areas which have been sanded with EASY-CLEAN Repair Oil
(Picture 3). Massage it in with a Scotch pad (e.g. Polishing Pad, white) by
hand within minutes after application until the strip has reached the same
colour tone as the ones surrounding it (Picture 4). Immediately remove the
masking tape (Picture 5) and adapt the border areas’ colour tone (Picture 6).
After a curing period of 24-48 hours reapply EASY-CLEAN Repair Oil by the
same method (Picture 7). This time, the amount applied should be bigger in
order to achieve a nice and even parquet floor. If after this local renovation the
gloss level appears to be irregular, it can be equalized by a full-area treatment
with a sanding pad (mechanical matting) and another application of colourless
Care Oil (Pictures 8- 10).
