98 PARKETT-HANDBUCH 12. REPAIRS AND RENOVATION 12. Repairs and renovation Small damages to the parquet floor can be corrected with hard wax. Damage to our colour stained and matt-lacquered products can be recoloured with the coloured Bauwerk Parquet Polish MATT. 12.1 Replacement of full-area bonded strips (with groove and joint) More serious damages, which affect single or multiple top-layer-strips, may require the replacement of parquet strips. This can be done in the following way: These tools are required for the replacement: hammer, chisel / crowbar, utility blades, notched trowel, spare parquet strip. These are common tools, which can usually be found in most manufacturers’ tool boxes. First, the top-layer is detached and raised with the hammer and the chisel. Make sure adjoining top-layer of other strips are not damaged. Once the top-layer is removed, the underlay is split in order to avoid loosening of or damage to the adjoining strips when the supporting layer is pulled out. (CleverWood does not require a splitting of the bottom-layer.) The cross-ridge of the adjoining strips is removed as well. Once all elements are removed, the subfloor is cleaned from all remaining layers (e.g. adhesives). If not, uneven and non-flush areas can appear.
