The glue is applied thickly to the top side of the groove’s cheek.
Carefully press the element onto the tongue of the previous strip by
hand. Next, use a hammer and a block to knock it into its final position.
Do not apply too much glue because this will prevent the tongue and
groove from adjoining neatly.
1 . Lacquering program
1 . .1 Water lacquer
Water lacquers are made from synthetic resin dispersions containing
approx. 55-70% water and a very small amount of solvents (approx.
2-5%) which are necessary for processing. The lacquer is free of
formaldehyde and is not harmful to your health. As water lacquer
represents the best ecological profile during its production and
processing we recommend the application of water lacquer.
Undercoat Prime (Art. No. 11011055)
– Water containing primer for all Bauwerk Water Lacquers
– Effective reduction of edge-bonding
– Virtually odourless and solvent-free
– Free of formaldehyde
Product description: Prime is a one-component water containing primer based
on an acrylate dispersion.
Application area: Basically, Prime should be the first coating beneath all Bauwerk
Water Lacquers.
Advantages of Prime:
– Reduction of edge-bonding minimizes the risk of torn-off edges.
– Light intensification of the wood colour shade (Caution: Avoid colour
irregularities by making sure that the lacquer is applied evenly and that no
lacquer-puddles emerge.
– The application of Prime leads to a well-bodied finish and improves the
entire lacquerings chemical resistance.
Sanding the wood: Before applying any water containing lacquer, the last cycle
of fine sanding must be done with a grade at least 120 or 150. The finer the
sanding is done, the smaller the wood’s roughening will be, which will make the
lacquer’s sanding easier.
Application requirements: All parquet surfaces have to be carefully sanded
and free of saw dust, oil, wax and dirt before Prime is applied. The room’s
temperature must be above 18°C (64°F). Prime is applied thickly in one cycle
using the water lacquer roller (amount applied approx. 100 – 125g/m2). In
normal room climates the drying time lies between 1 to 2 hours.
