22<strong><strong>Touch</strong>Ware</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Windows</strong> <strong>User's</strong> <strong>Guide</strong><strong>Touch</strong> ModesDesktop ModeDesktop mode is most useful <strong>for</strong> general-purpose desktop applications. InDesktop mode, a touch positions the cursor much like a mouse. Holding thetouch steady is equivalent to pressing and holding the mouse button.Lifting off is equivalent to releasing the mouse button.• To click, touch the object. Lift off the screen.• To double-click, touch the object twice quickly at the same location.• To drag, touch the object. Pause. Slide your finger to the new location. Liftyour finger off the screen.Note: When using the Draw tool, you must pause <strong>for</strong> the system to recognizetouch be<strong>for</strong>e drawing.Drawing ModeDrawing mode is most useful <strong>for</strong> draw, paint, illustrator, and graphicsapplications. In Drawing mode, a touch is equivalent to pressing andholding down the mouse button. This is considered the easiest mode to usewith immediate reaction to touch. Lifting off is equivalent to releasing themouse button.• To click, touch the object. Lift off the screen.• To double-click, touch the object twice quickly at the same location.• To drag, touch the object. Slide your finger to the new location. Lift off thescreen.Button ModeIn Button mode, touching the screen is equivalent to pressing and releasingthe mouse button. The action occurs as soon as you touch the screen. Thismode is best <strong>for</strong> button based applications (like a calculator). This mode isnot good <strong>for</strong> drawing or dragging objects.Note: When you choose a Custom <strong>Touch</strong> mode (Tools → <strong>Touch</strong>screen Options),the text on this button face will change from “Button” to “Custom”. You must thenselect Custom to activate your choice.
