Standard Three 19• Legislative Action Committee which communicatesinformation regarding current legislation related toCentralia College and the community collegesystem as a whole.• Instructional Council which makesrecommendations about curriculum, instructionalstandard and the academic life of students.• Student Employee of the Quarter Committee whichreviews nominations for student employeerecognition and makes decisions based on thesubmitted recommendation form• Diversity Committee which increases awareness ofand appreciation for our multicultural heritage,encourages social responsibility and goodcitizenship related to issues of diversity, thatfacilitate student and staff sensitivity and opennessto diverse ideas, peoples, and cultures• ASCC Constitution Review Committee whichreviews the current ASCC Constitution and Bylawsand makes any recommendations for change. Thiscommittee is responsible to the studentgovernment.• College Council which meets once a month andconsists of three faculty, three classified staff, threeadministrators, and three students. The Councildiscusses issues related to the College andrecommends policy changes to the Collegepresident. (See Attachment 3.9)AnalysisAlthough there are multiple opportunities for students to be on campuscommittees, it is always very difficult to get them interested inparticipating. Recruiting is done through direct mailings to students,articles in the student newspaper, flyers on campus, pleas to the clubsand organization advisors and faculty, the student listserve, and word ofmouth. Every year is different as far as participation level, butparticipation has been very low in recent years. There is great effort to
