Standard Three 31Counseling <strong>Services</strong> Quality Surveys, and <strong>Student</strong>Job Center (Worker Retraining) Surveys• Specific grant/program performance evaluationrequirements(To see complete survey results, see the <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Services</strong> DepartmentNotebooks located in the Exhibit Room).AnalysisReview of assessment information from each department reveals thatvarious assessment tools have been used to evaluate several services.However, departments within <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Services</strong> are at different stages ofreviewing assessment data, and developing and implementing processimprovement plans.Some departments have gathered useful information and made changes.For example, the Counseling/Career Center reviewed the <strong>Student</strong><strong>Services</strong> Effectiveness Survey and the Counseling <strong>Services</strong> QualitySurvey. As a result, changes were implemented including use ofeducational planning guides as part of the new student advising andregistration process, introduction of the “FYI” counseling newsletter(published several times a year), and enhancement of the bulletin boardoutside the Counseling Office.Some departments are in the process of developing action plans forprocess improvement. For example, the International <strong>Student</strong>s' Programis planning to conduct an international students' survey to identify its mostand least vital components.Some departments need additional support in establishing a processimprovement plan. For example, the <strong>Student</strong> Programs Office is lookingat ways to develop a process for an overall student programs evaluation.But they are not alone since it has been a struggle statewide to developthe most effective way to assess <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Services</strong>.The assessment and improvement process could be better if developedas part of an overall <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Services</strong> strategic plan.
