Standard Three 49AnalysisAlthough Stafford Loans are an important resource for many students, theFinancial Aid Office works hard to identify other funding options forstudents. During the orientation sessions, staff work with students toidentify other resources, including part-time work. They emphasize thestudent's responsibility for repaying the loan in the hope each student willrecognize his or her obligation under this program.<strong>Student</strong> Orientation<strong>Centralia</strong> <strong>College</strong> provides a wide variety of entry support services forpotential and new students. The Educational Talent Search (ETS)program begins working with students as early as middle school. Thestaff routinely work with youth to support their success in K-12, and helpthem set college as a future goal. This includes orienting students to the<strong>College</strong> environment through campus tours and a variety of activities onthe <strong>College</strong> campus. While on campus, students as young assophomores can visit classes in the programs they are considering as amajor.The Technical Preparation program provides orientation information tocollege bound students who are participating in the program, includingadvising them of college credit they may be able to earn while still in highschool.The director of special needs visits local high schools, presents futuretraining options, and encourages students to tour <strong>Centralia</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<strong>Student</strong>s are advised in their acceptance letter that accommodations areavailable for those who have disabilities. They are asked to contact theSpecial Needs Office early to make arrangements, if needed. Informationsessions for potential running start students are held at local high schoolsand on campus. The SAAT-Team (Admissions and Activities) is a groupof <strong>Centralia</strong> <strong>College</strong> students who are actively involved in helping torecruit and orient new students to <strong>Centralia</strong> <strong>College</strong>. These students visithigh schools and also do individual campus tours for interested studentsand parents.
