Standard18.14 M A directive establishes procedures to be used wheninvestigating missing children and missing adultreports following the guidelines outlined in FloridaStatutes. The policy must ensure that casesinvolving missing children and adults areinvestigated promptly using appropriate resources,and must include at a minimum:A. Requirements for accepting missing child andmissing adult reports;B. Requirement for entry into FCIC/NCIC within twohours of receipt of the report;C. Procedures for initiating, maintaining, closing, orreferring a missing child or missing adultinvestigation;D. <strong>Standards</strong> for maintaining and clearing computerdata of information concerning a missing child ormissing adult which is stored in the FCIC and theNCIC, to include a monthly review of each case anda determination of whether the case should bemaintained in the database; andE. Requirement that when a person has been reportedmissing and has not been located within 30 days, theagency will request the family or next of kin toprovide written consent to contact the dentist of themissing person and request that person’s dentalrecords for inclusion in the NCIC Dental File; andF.
