The assessors will conduct the assessment under the assumption that theagency is in compliance with all CALEA® standards unless proven otherwise.Assessors will not review CALEA® files under normal conditions but, if an issuepresents itself, assessors may investigate further to include a review ofapplicable CALEA® files.The team could recommend a full compliance on-site if serious problems areuncovered during a comparative compliance on-site. This decision will be madeby the full Commission after consultation with the team leader and review of theteam's final written report.Public InformationThe agency must announce its candidacy for accreditation at least 30 days priorto the on-site review. The press release must invite public comment and includethe scheduled dates of the assessment. It also must include the Commission’saddress and phone number. Follow-up to correspondence, if required, iscompleted by assessors prior to the conclusion of the on-site when possible.Exit InterviewAt the conclusion of the on-site, the assessment team will conduct an exitinterview with the CEO and any agency staff the CEO wishes to include. Theteam will relay their observations resulting from the assessment and notify theCEO of their intent to recommend or not recommend the candidate agency foraccreditation or reaccreditation at the next general meeting.Final ReportThe assessors write a report of their findings and submit it to Commission stafffor processing. The report contains (1) an overview of the agency; (2) a synopsisof the team’s activities; (3) a discussion of the agency’s compliance and noncompliancewith standards; (4) a summary of corrective action; (5) any workremaining to achieve full compliance; (6) public information activities; and (7) arecommendation to the Commission.11June 2012
