It comprises the Chief Financial Officer,divisional managing directors and directors of group functions. Its purpose is to support the Chief Executive incarrying out the duties delegated to him by the board. In that context, excom co-ordinates brand and operationalexecution and delivers strategic plans and budgets for the board’s consideration. Hejoined <strong>SABMiller</strong>’s beer divisionin 1993 and has held varioussenior positions in the group.These include ManagingDirector of <strong>SABMiller</strong>’sPolish subsidiary KompaniaPiwowarska S.A., ManagingDirector of AmalgamatedBeverage Industries Ltd (ABI)(now the Soft Drinks Divisionof SAB Ltd) and Chairmanof Appletiser.Dr Clark was appointedManaging Director, <strong>SABMiller</strong>Europe in 2003. He joined SABLtd in 1990 as Training andDevelopment Manager. He hassince held a number of seniorpositions in the group, includingMarketing Director, SAB Ltd,Managing Director, ABI andChairman, Appletiser SouthAfrica (Pty) Ltd. Before joiningthe group, he practised asa clinical psychologist andlectured in psychology atVista University in South Africa.Sue Clark was appointedCorporate Affairs Director,<strong>SABMiller</strong> plc in 2003. He joined SAB Ltd in1982 and has held a number ofsenior positions in the group.These include OperationsDirector and Marketing Director,SAB Ltd, Chairman & ChiefExecutive Officer, PlzeňskýPrazdroj a.s. and, mostrecently, Chairman andManaging Director: SAB Ltd.He is accountable for theGlobal Technical function andChairman of the GlobalSourcing Council.Ari Mervis was appointedManaging Director of <strong>SABMiller</strong>Asia in October 2007. Hejoined ABI in 1989 and has heldvarious senior positions insales, marketing, finance andgeneral management. He hasbeen Managing Director ofSwaziland Bottling Companyand Appletiser as well asManaging Director of <strong>SABMiller</strong>operations in Russia andAustralia.Barry Smith was appointedPresident, <strong>SABMiller</strong> LatinAmerica in 2007 and prior tothis he was President,<strong>SABMiller</strong> South America from2005. He joined SAB Ltd in1984 and has held a number ofsenior positions in the group.These include MarketingDirector, SAB Ltd, ManagingDirector, Kompania PiwowarskaS.A. and Senior Vice President,Market Development andStrategy, Miller BrewingCompany.
