Exam nat ons of debr s recovered from scenes can dent fy gasol ne, fuel o ls, and spec al ty solvents. Exam nat ons generally cannot dent fy specific brands. Search at quest oned arson scenes for the follow ng tems: candles, c garettes, matchbooks, Molotov cockta ls, fused chem cal masses, or any electron c or mechan cal dev ces an arson st may have used. Also search for burn tra ls on cloth or paper, burn trails on carpeted or hardwood floors, and the removal of personal property or commerc al nventory.
