1.2 Students and Schools by all Programs<br />

1.2.1 All Students by Gender and <strong>Education</strong> Type:<br />

The table below shows, there are 6,693,966 students, <strong>of</strong> which 4,240,415 are male and 2,453,551<br />

are female. This figure covers all the schools including General, Islamic, Teacher Training, and<br />

Technical and Vocational. Among these 4 categories <strong>of</strong> schools, the General <strong>Education</strong> has the most<br />

number <strong>of</strong> students; it covers almost 97% <strong>of</strong> the total number <strong>of</strong> students. Islamic <strong>Education</strong> covers<br />

almost 2% <strong>of</strong> the students. There are more male than female students in these schools. Table below<br />

shows gender ratio, which is an important social indicator to measure the extent <strong>of</strong> prevailing equity<br />

between males and females at a given point <strong>of</strong> time. It is mainly the outcome <strong>of</strong> the interplay <strong>of</strong><br />

gender differentials. It is usually measured as the number <strong>of</strong> males per 100 females.<br />
