Ministry of Education Summary Report of Education Situation ,Year 1388
1.3.1.2 Student Attendance: absent from exam and failed student
The figures on attendance represents the number of students present in or absent from the class at
the day of filling the data collection cycle forms. Permanently absent represent those students who
registered but do not attend school. These students’ names of permanently absent (PAS) are kept in
the school registers for three consecutive years and new permanently absent students are
accumulated. Once PAS complete the three years period, their names are removed from the register.
Graph 8 below shows students that are present and permanently absent. Ministry of Education needs
to work out a strategy for the reintegration of these permanently absent students. The Ministry has
to know the reasons behind these permanently absent. The reasons could be lack of security, illness,
economic reasons, marriage, displacement, disapproval of continued education, bad education
environment and many others categories. Once reasons and problems are identified, there is a need
to concentrate on the resolution of these problems and facilitate a process of re-entry of the students
into the education system.
Again among total 6,504.715 students, 5,869,772 students are registered for the exam, 72% passed,
5% failed and 23% are absent.
