1.3.2.2 Student Attendance, Absent from exam and failed student<br />
The figures on attendance represent the number <strong>of</strong> students present or absent in the class at the day<br />
<strong>of</strong> filling the data collection cycle forms. While permanently absent represent those students who<br />
registered but never appeared in the school until the collection <strong>of</strong> data. These students’ names as<br />
permanently absent are kept in the school registers for three consecutive years. Once Permanently<br />
Absent students (PAS) complete the three years period, their names are removed from the register.<br />
Figure below shows present, absent and permanently absent.<br />
Out <strong>of</strong> total 136,935 students, 101,097 students registered for the exam, 83% passed, 4% failed and<br />
13% are permanently absent.<br />
