However,the exact pore-scale mechanisms of gelation remain unclear and, consequently, the decayof the average T 2 in water only indicates a characteristic reaction rate. It was found that,due to the gel treatment, for each sandstone core the relative permeability to water wasreduced more than that to oil. The effect of gel, which is formed under single phaseconditions, on the permeability of the rock is considered in the next chapter.
