About the Authors: L our ourenço enço Sambo Sambo is currently Economic Advisor to the Minister of Planning and Development in Maputo. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics and a M.Phil. in Economic Development (Agro-Business) from the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo; at Bradford University, UK he specialized in Finance Project Appraisals. He was the an investment analyst and the Head of Research Department at the Investment Promotion Centre when he worked on the Botswana Country Study on Deepening Integration in SADC: Macroeconomic Policies and Their Impact supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. He has published extensively on issues of investment in Mozambique. Aside from his current main occupation he goes on as a business consultant and academic researcher at IPC and Ministry of Planning and Development. Adriano driano driano Ubisse Ubisse is an economist and currently the Deputy Director for Studies at the Ministry of Planning and Development in Maputo. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo and a MA in Economic Development from the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, USA. His primary activities are research on economic issues to support decision by the Government and participation in policy analysis and design (macroeconomic and sectoral policies). In this respect he cooperated with Lourenço Sambo in the FES Study in Mozambique. He published on issues of Trade and Finance and lectures Principles of Economics at Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo. 215
