2.2 Circuit Switched Services - AT&T

Contract # GS00T01AHD0002Proposal to add Federal Telecommunications Service – Long Distance (FTS-LD)as our major network switching systems, to provide the most reliable audioteleconference service possible. Each of the various hardware, software, and networkcomponents associated with our bridging technology has its own back up andrecovery plan. AT&T’s standard practice is to appropriately staff trainedmaintenance personnel twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.The audio teleconference network supports High Availability Software, which inessence is a redundant configuration. This redundancy allows constant monitoring;therefore, if one component is not functional, the other component will support thefunction.Our audio teleconference network is designed with spare and backup equipment thatcan be automatically or manually activated. In the unlikely event these backups fail,emergency plans allow us to re-route calls to one or more of the alternate bridge,operator or central office locations not impacted by a failure, via AT&T FastRestoration Service (FASTAR). The FASTAR network control mechanism allowsAT&T network traffic to avoid outages and/or reroute traffic in the event of outages___________.AT&T employs an uninterruptible power supply system at central office facilities.Should commercial power fail, AT&T Conference Offices are equipped with UtilityPower Supply (UPS), battery backup, and generators. The switching and bridgingequipment is powered directly with DC power through a series of lead acid batteries.These batteries can survive for ___________ without being recharged. In the event oflost power there are 5 diesel-powered generators that start immediately.
