ApplicationsSome of the more common processes which utilise liquid ringtechnology are listed below.• Distillation• Stripping• Filtration• Solvent recovery• Evaporation• Deaeration• DryingThese processes are used in a wide range of industries andapplications, which include:• Chemical processing • Electronics industry• Food processing and packaging• Automobile components• Pharmaceutical production • Power generation• Oil exploration and refining • Waste collection• Glass industry• Building materials• Tobacco conditioning • Soil remediation• PackagingSystemsLiquid ring pumps are offered in a number of standard configurations, with a selection of seal liquid systems to suit the particular applicationand environment.SLRP ConfiguratorThe SLRP system utilizes 3D AutoCAD design software to produce atailored liquid ring pump package constructed from pre-engineeredmodules. The main benefits being the instant availability of acustomized quotation and package general arrangement drawingand reduced lead times. The system offers a selection of pump material options along with achoice from three standard operating configurations to suit the processconditions.Partial RecirculationIn this case, the liquid/gas mixture is separated in the dischargeseparator. The recovered service liquid is then mixed with fresh sealfluid to maintain a constant temperature to the pump. The excessliquid, equivalent to the make-up supply, goes to drain. The minimumamount of fresh make-up fluid is used to ensure cavitation freeoperation at the required suction pressure.89711 Process gas inlet 6 Make-up fluid2 Gas vent 7 Manual control valve3 Discharge separator 8 Edwards liquid ring vacuum pump4 30% – 70% fluid to drain 9 Check valve5 Seal fluid make-up valveTotal RecirculationTotal recirculation is used where it is desirable to minimise wasteliquid from the pump. All of the liquid is re-circulated back into thepump via a heat exchanger, which removes the heat of compressionand any latent heat of condensation from the seal liquid. The sealliquid can then be reused by the pump minimising the effluent fromthe pump system. The system is of particular interest when the pumpis operating on a solvent removal or drying process where processvapours are condensed within the pump, often the pump seal liquidcan be the same as the condensed process vapours.23456213114510Once-ThroughThis is the most basic configuration available, it comprises of a pumpcomplete with electric motor and drive and base frame. A dischargeseparator is required at the pump discharge. It is used where anample supply of seal liquid, which can be subsequently discharged todrain, is available. The liquid/gas mixture is discharged to drainthrough the discharge line.561210981 Process gas inlet 7 Cooling liquid out2 Gas vent 8 Cooling liquid in3 Discharge separator 9 Manual control valve4 Make-up fluid 10 Edwards liquid ring vacuum pump5 Fluid overflow to drain 11 Check valve6 Heat exchangerStandard AccessoriesA range of accessories to complement the standard package areavailable, these can be selected in the configurator:• Inlet non-return valve• Inlet isolating valve• Inlet vacuum gauge• Vacuum relief valve• Automatic seal water make up kit76Page397431 Process gas inlet 4 Regulating valve2 Fluid gas mixture to drain 5 Edwards liquid ring vacuum pump3 Sea fluid 6 Check valveShop online at www.edwardsvacuum.com
