<strong>Sepulveda</strong> <strong>Dam</strong> <strong>Basin</strong><strong>Master</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> and Environmental AssessmentVelodrome is located in the northwestern portion of the <strong>Basin</strong> and is adjacent to the FranklinFields. The facility includes a lighted, banked, 250-meter oval bicycle racing track and aconcession stand. The facility was developed by private interests in 1961.ONEgeneration S. Mark Taper Intergenerational Center The Center is located in a building in thenorthwest portion of the <strong>Basin</strong> adjacent to Victory Boulevard. The Center and surroundinggrounds occupy approximately 7-acres. The ONEgeneration S. Mark Taper IntergenerationalCenter, formerly known as the Valley Youth Center, provides various services to seniors andinfants and children age 6 months to 6 years. A soccer field is located to the west. Servicesprovided include an intergenerational (adult daycare and children daycare in a shared setting)services and programs that intertwine human needs for both giving and receiving meaningfuldaily contact. In the summer months, the Center serves as a cooling site for the elderly to cometo escape the Valley’s often excessive heat. The Center is operated by the non-profit organizationONEgeneration with a sublease from the City.<strong>Sepulveda</strong> <strong>Basin</strong> Off-Leash Dog Park The dog park is a 13.7-acre facility located in theextreme northwestern portion of the <strong>Basin</strong>, southeast of the intersection of VictoryBoulevard and White Oak Avenue. The dog park includes a fenced area for small-dogs, afenced area for medium/timid dogs, and an area for large dogs. Both areas are enclosed with a 4-foot high cyclone fence. The facility has a picnic area, a parking lot for 100 cars. The Off-LeashDog Park was developed by the City.Pedlow Field Skate-Park was completed in 2001. It is located on approximately 3.4 acres in thenorthwestern portion of the <strong>Basin</strong> adjacent to Victory Boulevard. The concrete skate bowl is8,500 square foot. All skaters are required to wear helmets and knee and elbow pads. The skatepark was developed by the City.Bike Trails Approximately ten miles of bike trails are located in the <strong>Basin</strong>. The bike trails runalong the perimeter of the <strong>Basin</strong> and through the <strong>Basin</strong> parallel to Balboa Boulevard andWoodley Avenue. The bike trail system shares a parking lot and staging area with the WoodleyLakes Golf Course.4.6 Qualitative Facility AssessmentA qualitative assessment of the condition of existing recreation amenities was completed toidentify potential safety issues, operation and maintenance needs, and amenity conditions.
