06 Starting and drivingBlind Spot Information System BLIS (option)Generalattention to vehicles moving in the same directionin the so-called "blind spot".The system is designed to work most effectivelywhen driving in dense traffic on multilanehighways.BLIS is based on digital camera technology.The cameras (1) are fitted under the door mirrors.When a camera has detected a vehicle insidethe blind spot zone the indicator lamp (2) illuminateswith a constant glow.Blind spotsNOTERearview mirror with BLIS system.1. BLIS camera2. Indicator lamp3. BLIS symbolWARNINGThe system is a supplement to, not a replacementfor, a safe driving style and useof the rearview mirrors. It can never replacethe driver’s attention and responsibility. Theresponsibility for changing lanes safely alwaysrests with the driver.The lamp illuminates on the side of the carwhere the system has detected the vehicle.If the car is overtaken on both sides at thesame time then both lamps illuminate.BLIS advises the driver with a message if afault arises in the system. If for example thesystem’s cameras are obscured then theBLIS indicator lamp flashes and the informationdisplay shows a message. In such cases,check and clean the lenses.
