10 Infotainment systemPhone functions (option)10Volume reduction during phone callIf the phone rings when the radio is switchedon, the volume is lowered when the call is answered.When the call is concluded, the volumereturns to the previously set level. Radiovolume can also be adjusted during a phonecall, whereby the newly selected level willresume when the call is concluded. Audiosystem volume can also be switched offcompletely during a phone call, seepage 238.This function only applies to the Volvo integratedphone system.Standby modeIn standby mode, you can receive calls whilethe audio system is active and informationfrom audio system sources is shown in thedisplay.To use other functions of the phone system,the phone must be in active mode.Menu shortcutsOnce you have used the menu button to enterthe menu system, you can use numbersinstead of the arrows and the ENTER buttonto select the right menu in the main menulevel. Each menu selection is numbered. Thenumbers are shown in the display togetherwith the menu alternative.Traffic safetyFor reasons of safety, parts of the phonemenu system cannot be accessed at speedsin excess of 8 km/h. You may only completemenu system activities that have alreadybeen started.The speed limiter can be disconnected usingmenu function 5.6.SIM card– Open the SIM card holder with a shortpress.– Insert the SIM card with the metallic surfacedown.– Make sure that the bevelled corner of theSIM card matches the bevel of the holder.– Press in the holder.Contact your network operator if you experiencedifficulties with the SIM card.Making and receiving callsTo call:– Dial the number and press ENTER on thesteering wheel or the control panel keypad(or lift the handset).To receive an incoming call:– Press ENTER or lift the handset. You canalso use Automatic Answer. Seepage 238.The car’s audio system can be muted automaticallywhile a phone call is in progress,see page 238.Ending a call– Press EXIT/CLEAR on the steering wheelor control panel keypad or hang up thehandset.The audio system resumes its previousactivity.Refuse an incoming call by pressing EXIT/CLEAR.The phone can only be used with a valid SIMcard (Subscriber Identity Module). Your networkoperator supplies this card.Always insert the SIM card when you wish touse the phone.– Switch off the phone.232
