03 Climate controlElectronic Climate Control, ECC037. Defroster, windscreen and sidewindowsUsed to quickly remove misting and ice fromthe windscreen and side windows. Air flowsto the windows at high speed. The light in thedefroster button illuminates when this functionis engaged.When the function is selected the followingalso takes place to provide maximum dehumidificationof the air in the passenger compartment:• the air conditioning (AC) is automaticallyengaged (can be switched off with theA/C button).• recirculation is automatically disengaged.When the defroster function isswitched off the climate control system returnsto the previous settings.8. Rear window and door mirrordefrostersUse this button to quickly remove mistingand ice from the rear window and door mirrors,see page 50 for further informationabout this function.9. Heated front seatsTo activate front seat heating:– Higher heat:Press the button once – both lights illuminate.– Lower heat:Press the button twice, one – light illuminates.Heat off:Press the button three times – light not illuminated.An authorised <strong>Volvo</strong> workshop can adjust thetemperature.10 and 11. Temperature selectorThe two knobs can be used to set the temperaturefor the passenger and driver’s sidesof the car.NOTEHeating or cooling cannot be hastened byselecting a higher or lower temperature thanthe actual desired temperature.12. FanIncrease or decrease fan speed by turningthe knob. The fan speed is regulated automaticallyif AUTO is selected, and the previouslyset fan speed is disengaged.NOTEIf the knob is turned anticlockwise and thefan indicator in the display goes out, the fanand the air conditioning are switched off.13. Fan, rear passenger compartment(option in cars seating seven)Fan speed can be increased or decreased byturning the knob. This only applies if AC isselected for both front (1) and rear passengercompartment. The button for rear passengercompartment is in the centre console switchpanel, see page 48.74
