SECTION 709: Termination Of Non-Conforming Signs709.1: Removal of Non-Conforming SignsWhen a non-conforming sign is taken down or moved. for any reason, the same may notagain be erected or reestablished or permitted to remain at any location on the propertywithout the prior issuance of a sign permit, and in such case, no sign permit shall beissued unless the sign is then made to conform with all regulations applicable to newsigns.709.2: Damaged or Destroyed Non-Conforming SignsA sign damaged or destroyed by any means to an extent of more than fifty percent(50%) of its replacement cost at time of destruction shall not be reconstructed except inconformity with the provisions of this ordinance unless a variance is granted by the<strong>Zoning</strong> Hearing Board. Replacement cost shall be determined by obtaining cost ofconstruction from one sign contractor mutually agreed to by the owner and the<strong>Township</strong>.709.3: Signs Erected in ViolationThe <strong>Zoning</strong> Officer or his authorized agent shall have the authority to order the removalof any sign erected after the effective date of this ordinance in violation of the ordinance.709.4: Obsolete SignsAny sign now or hereafter existing which no longer advertises or identifies a bonafidebusiness conducted or a product sold upon the premises, shall be taken down andremoved by the owner of the building or structure or land upon which such sign may befound, within ten (10) days after written notification front the <strong>Zoning</strong> Officer, suchnotice to be sent by certified mail.53
