Program Tips• Begin at the <strong>Precor</strong> banner. Refer to Workout Options.• A blinking column indicates your position as you progressthrough a program.• Prior to choosing a program, you may press theOPTIONS key to access units of measure and safetycode settings. Refer to Setting Display PreferencesBefore Exercising.• To use the SmartRate feature, you need to specify yourage and wear a chest strap or hold on to the touchsensitivehandrail grips. Refer to Using SmartRate.• To exercise indefinitely in any program (except presetdistance or calorie goal programs and the Fitness Test),an unlimited exercise time setting may be an availableoption. Refer to Selecting a Program.• If your level of exertion becomes too great, reduce yourpace or change the incline using the arrow keys tooverride each upcoming column in the program profile.• To pause during a program, press PAUSE/RESET. Referto Pausing During a Workout or the Cool-Down Period.• When you complete a program that contains a time,distance or calorie goal, the automatic cool-down periodbegins. Refer to Cooling Down After a Workout.• Cumulative workout statistics appear when you end yourexercise session. Refer to Ending a Workout.<strong>Manual</strong> ProgramMANUALThe <strong>Manual</strong> Program profile, available by pressing theMANUAL key, begins as a flat line. You control incline andspeed settings using the INCLINE or SPEED arrow keys.The program profile reflects changes in all subsequentcolumns. The blinking column indicates your position in theprogram. A cool-down period occurs automatically when youend your workout.Note: An exception to the cool-down period exists. Refer toAdvanced Programming and Troubleshooting for moreinformation.To use the SmartRate feature, you need to specify your ageby pressing the OPTIONS key and following the displayprompts.
