CHAPTER 8POLICE RECRUITMENT AND TRAININGState Wise <str<strong>on</strong>g>Data</str<strong>on</strong>g> On :• <strong>Police</strong> Pers<strong>on</strong>nel Recruited• <strong>Police</strong> Pers<strong>on</strong>nel Tra<strong>in</strong>ed• Informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> IPS OfficersThis chapter depicts the <strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong> /data<strong>on</strong> State/UT <strong>in</strong> respect of number of policepers<strong>on</strong>nel (C<strong>on</strong>stables, S.Is, Sergeants, ASIs,etc.) recruited dur<strong>in</strong>g 2010; number of newlyrecruited police pers<strong>on</strong>nel tra<strong>in</strong>ed and numberof police pers<strong>on</strong>nel given <strong>in</strong>-service tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gdur<strong>in</strong>g 2010.<strong>Police</strong> Pers<strong>on</strong>nel RecruitedA total of 99,089 police c<strong>on</strong>stables wererecruited fresh dur<strong>in</strong>g 2010 as aga<strong>in</strong>st 1,09,910<strong>in</strong> 2009 <strong>in</strong> the country. At state level themaximum of 16,980 recruitments were made<strong>in</strong> Maharashtra State followed by 13,448 <strong>in</strong>Andhra Pradesh and 12,764 <strong>in</strong> Delhi.The number of Sub. Inspectors (SIs) /Assistant Sub. Inspectors (ASIs) recruited dur<strong>in</strong>g2010 were 9,404 whereas this figure was 3,409dur<strong>in</strong>g 2009. At state level the maximum of3,022 SIs / ASIs were recruited <strong>in</strong> Maharashtrafollowed by 2,091 <strong>in</strong> Bihar and 1,065 <strong>in</strong> TamilNadu.Details are given <strong>in</strong> Table – 8.1. SsP, 8,376 SIs/ ASIs / Sargents, and 96,090C<strong>on</strong>stables of police force were tra<strong>in</strong>ed dur<strong>in</strong>gthe year 2010.At state level the maximum of 84 Dy.SPsof J&K <strong>Police</strong>, followed by 78 Dy.SPs ofMaharashtra and 27 of Assam got tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gdur<strong>in</strong>g 2010 while 2,091 SIs/ASIs from Bihar<strong>Police</strong> Force 1,163 from Orissa and 1,159 fromMaharashtra <strong>Police</strong> were tra<strong>in</strong>ed dur<strong>in</strong>g thisperiod. The maximum of 12,351 c<strong>on</strong>stablesof Andhra Pradesh <strong>Police</strong> Force, 11,863 fromMaharashtra and 8,635 from Tamil Nadui <strong>Police</strong>were tra<strong>in</strong>ed dur<strong>in</strong>g the year 2009. Details aregiven <strong>in</strong> Table – 8.2. (Page No. 105)<strong>Police</strong> <strong>in</strong>-service tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gA total of 1,00,189 police pers<strong>on</strong>nel fromStates/UTs police forces were given <strong>in</strong>-servicetra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g dur<strong>in</strong>g the year 2010 <strong>in</strong> the country.Of these, 1,040 IPS, 2,067 Dy.SsP, 18,464 SIs/Sergeants/ASIs and 78,618 c<strong>on</strong>stables weregiven <strong>in</strong>-service tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g dur<strong>in</strong>g 2010. Detailsare given <strong>in</strong> Table – 8.3. (Page No. 106)At state level the maximum of 137 IPSOfficers from Madhya Pradesh followed by124 from Gujarat and 110 from Karnataka(<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g some officers hav<strong>in</strong>g underg<strong>on</strong>etra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g more than <strong>on</strong>ce), were given <strong>in</strong>servicetra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g dur<strong>in</strong>g 2010. Dur<strong>in</strong>g this periodRajasthan <strong>Police</strong> has given <strong>in</strong>-service tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gto 364 Dy.SsP followed by 239 <strong>in</strong> Karnatakaand 238 <strong>in</strong> J&K. At SIs/Sergeants/ASIs levelthe highest of 2,739 police pers<strong>on</strong>nel fromRajasthan, 1,713 from Kerala and 1,651 fromHaryana were given <strong>in</strong>-service tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g dur<strong>in</strong>g2010. Some officers, out of all those tra<strong>in</strong>ed<strong>in</strong> service, did get tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g exposure morethan <strong>on</strong>ce <strong>in</strong> different programmes.
