However, therequired <strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong> has not been receivedfrom a number of States/UTs and the same hasbeen <strong>in</strong>dicated accord<strong>in</strong>gly. Details are given <strong>in</strong>Table - 2.4 (Page No. 24-25)Armed Battali<strong>on</strong>sThe total number of Armed <strong>Police</strong>Battali<strong>on</strong>s with all the States/UTs <strong>in</strong> the countrywas 426 + 5 coys as <strong>on</strong> 01.01.2011. The highestnumber of 33 Armed <strong>Police</strong> Battali<strong>on</strong>s waswith Uttar Pradesh <strong>Police</strong>, followed by 31 withJammu & Kashmir and 28 with Assam <strong>Police</strong>as <strong>on</strong> 01.01.2011. Details are given <strong>in</strong> Table –2.5 (Page No. 26)Women <strong>Police</strong> Stati<strong>on</strong>sThere were a total of 442 Women <strong>Police</strong>Stati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>in</strong> the country as <strong>on</strong> 01.01.2011. Anoverwhelm<strong>in</strong>g majority of these i.e. about 44%were functi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Tamil Nadu State al<strong>on</strong>ewith a total of 196 Women <strong>Police</strong> Stati<strong>on</strong>s. Itwas followed by Uttar Pradesh with 71, AndhraPradesh with 32 and Gujarat with 31 Women<strong>Police</strong> Stati<strong>on</strong>s. Details are given <strong>in</strong> Table – 2.6.(Page No. 27-35)However, there were 13 such States/UTswhere there were no separate Women <strong>Police</strong>Stati<strong>on</strong>s at all as <strong>on</strong> 01.01.2011.Cities with <strong>Police</strong> Commissi<strong>on</strong>eratesThe number of Cities where <strong>Police</strong>Commissi<strong>on</strong>er System is functi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> thecountry was 41 as <strong>on</strong> 01.01.2011. The highestnumbers of 10 cities with <strong>Police</strong> Commissi<strong>on</strong>erSystem was <strong>in</strong> Maharashtra, followed by 7 <strong>in</strong>Tamil Nadu and 4 each <strong>in</strong> Andhra Pradesh,Gujarat and Karnataka States.
