CHAPTER 2Police Stations for Special Purposes<strong>Data</strong> on Police Stations for specialpurposes namely – Crime against SC/ST/Weaker Section, Crime against children, antiCorruption/Vigilance, Costal Security, CriminalInvestigation Deptt., Economic Offences, CyberCrime, Narcotics and Drug Trafficking etc. hasbeen collected and compiled. However, therequired information has not been receivedfrom a number of States/UTs and the same hasbeen indicated accordingly. Details are given inTable - 2.4 (Page No. 24-25)Armed BattalionsThe total number of Armed PoliceBattalions with all the States/UTs in the countrywas 426 + 5 coys as on 01.01.2011. The highestnumber of 33 Armed Police Battalions waswith Uttar Pradesh Police, followed by 31 withJammu & Kashmir and 28 with Assam Policeas on 01.01.2011. Details are given in Table –2.5 (Page No. 26)Women Police StationsThere were a total of 442 Women PoliceStations in the country as on 01.01.2011. Anoverwhelming majority of these i.e. about 44%were functioning in Tamil Nadu State alonewith a total of 196 Women Police Stations. Itwas followed by Uttar Pradesh with 71, AndhraPradesh with 32 and Gujarat with 31 WomenPolice Stations. Details are given in Table – 2.6.(Page No. 27-35)However, there were 13 such States/UTswhere there were no separate Women PoliceStations at all as on 01.01.2011.Cities with Police CommissioneratesThe number of Cities where PoliceCommissioner System is functioning in thecountry was 41 as on 01.01.2011. The highestnumbers of 10 cities with Police CommissionerSystem was in Maharashtra, followed by 7 inTamil Nadu and 4 each in Andhra Pradesh,Gujarat and Karnataka States.
