PERIODIC MAINTENANCE 2-10● Connect the engine tachometer to the high-tensioncord.● Start the engine and set the engine idle speedbetween 1,300 and 1,500 rpm by turning the throttlestop screw 1 .Engine idle speed1,300 ~ 1,500 rpmEngine tachometer : 09900-260061ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTERInspect IntervalReplace Initially at 1 month and Every 6 monthsthereafter.2The oil should be changed while the engine is warm.Oil filter replacement at the above intervals, shouldbe done together with the engine oil change.▣ ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT● Place an oil pan under the drain plug 2 on thecrankcase and drain plug 3 on the oil tank. Thendrain out the engine oil by removing the engine oildrain plug 2 , 3 and engine oil level gauge 4 andouter cover oil filler cap 5 .● Reinstall the drain plug 2 , 3 and gasket. Tightenthe engine oil drain plug 2 and 3 to the specifiedtorque, and then pour the new oil through the oilfiller hole of oil tank and filler hole of outer cover.When performing an oil change (without oil filterreplacement), the engine will hold about 2,500mlLof oil. Use an engine oil that meets the API serviceclassifications of over SL and that has a viscosityrating of SAE 10W/40.Engine oil drain plug2 : 21 N∙m (2.1 kgf∙m)3 : 12 N∙m (1.2 kgf∙m)34● Install the oil lever gauge 4 .● Install the outer cover oil filler cap 5 .● Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutesat idling speed.● Turn off the engine and wait about three minutes,and then check the oil level on the dipstick 6 .(Remove the oil level gauge 4 . Wipe the oil fromthe oil level gauge using a clean rag. Reinsert theoil level gauge until the threads touch filler neck,but do not screw the oil level gauge in.)If the level is below upper limit line, add oil to thatlevel. The vehicle must be in a level position foraccurate measurement.56
