2-21 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE● Count out 21 pins (20 pitches) on the chain andmeasure the distance between the two points.If the distance exceeds the <strong>service</strong> limit, the chainmust be replaced.Drive chain20-pitch lengthService limit319.4 mm (12.58 in)▣ ADJUSTING● Loosen or tighten chain adjuster until there is30 ~ 40 mm (1.2 ~ 1.6 in) of slack at the middle ofthe chain between the engine and rear sprocketsas shown.Drive chain slackStandard30 ~ 40 mm (1.2 ~ 1.6 in)30 ~ 40 mm(1.2 ~ 1.6 in)● After adjusting the drive chain, tighten the rearaxle housing nuts and wrench bolts in thedescribed order to the specified torque.Rear axle housing nut : 70 ~ 100 N∙m (7.0 ~ 10.0 kgf∙m)Rear axle housing wrench bolt : 40 ~ 60 N∙m (4.0 ~ 6.0 kgf∙m)
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE 2-22▣ CLEANING AND LUBRICATING● Clean the drive chain with kerosine.If the drive chain tends to rust quickly, the intervalsmust be shortened.CAUTIONDo not use trichloroethylene, gasoline or any similarsolvent. These fluids have too great a dissolvingpower for this chain and they can damage theO-rings.Use only kerosine to clean the drive chain.CAUTIONSome drive chain lubricants contain solvents andadditives which could damage the O-rings in yourchain.Use <strong>Hyosung</strong> chain lube or an equivalent that isspecifically intended for use with O-ring chains.● After washing and drying the chain, oil it with aengine oil or chain lubricating oil.CAUTIONThe drive chain for this vehicle is made of thespecial material.The standard drive chain is a RK 520EXW recommendsto use this standard drive chain as areplacement.Use of another chain may lead to premature chainfailure.
