What is <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> this passage?Every language or dialect has its ownintonation. We cannot apply <strong>the</strong> intonation <strong>of</strong>one dialect to ano<strong>the</strong>r. There is no such thingsas using Visayan English or Ilocano English.Intonation is <strong>the</strong> rise and fall <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> voice whentalking. The voice is raised on <strong>the</strong> stressedsyllable. Stress and intonation are closelyrelated to each o<strong>the</strong>r. A stressed syllable isnormally said louder, longer, and with a higherpitch. Read every word? Focus on trying to comprehend every word? Skip some words?
