Between 2003 and2007, 82,770 ha of new plantations were developed, indicatingan expansion rate of 20,693 ha per year (Table 19). Thisrepresents a 21-­‐fold increase in the annual rate of palm oilconversion compared to the 2000 – 2003 period. By 2008another 16,796 ha of palm oil were developed. On average in104
