Many elementary teachers have little practice with integrating meaningfulengineering activities into the curriculum. This two-day session is designed to acquaint teachers with engineering design concepts, let themexperience engineering activities, and teach them how to incorporate meaningful engineering activitiesinto their science classes. The content will go beyond the common one-time “egg-drop” or “tallesttower” activities to stress the iterative design process, which includes the practices of problem definition;model development and use; investigation, analysis, and interpretation of data; application ofmathematics and computational thinking; and determination of solutions. After the first day of the session, participants will be expected to implement engineering in some wayin their classroom. Participants will then share these experiences on day two for colleagues to provideconstructive feedback.Register Online at www.ctserc.org/catalog63
