Internati<strong>on</strong>al GEO Workshop <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>SAR</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Support</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Agricultural</str<strong>on</strong>g> M<strong>on</strong>i<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ring<br />
Dr. Justice emphasized that we need Global Crop Calendars <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> answer the questi<strong>on</strong>: “Where<br />
are the data needed and when?” This informati<strong>on</strong> would lead <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> a global data acquisiti<strong>on</strong><br />
strategy. Then the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Agricultural</str<strong>on</strong>g> M<strong>on</strong>i<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ring CoP could have a focused planning meeting with<br />
the <str<strong>on</strong>g>SAR</str<strong>on</strong>g> Space Agencies <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> create a coordinated systematic acquisiti<strong>on</strong> strategy. A CEOS<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>SAR</str<strong>on</strong>g> focus group is needed similar <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> other CEOS working groups.<br />
The CEOS Land Surface Imaging (LSI) task group should address <str<strong>on</strong>g>SAR</str<strong>on</strong>g> C<strong>on</strong>stellati<strong>on</strong>s. The<br />
timing needs for <str<strong>on</strong>g>Agricultural</str<strong>on</strong>g> M<strong>on</strong>i<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ring should influence acquisiti<strong>on</strong> planning for Sentinel 1<br />
and 2 and other systems in planning.<br />
Dr. Justice pointed out that large workshops are expensive, but Latin America and Africa<br />
need attenti<strong>on</strong>, and general meetings <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Agricultural</str<strong>on</strong>g> M<strong>on</strong>i<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ring should be c<strong>on</strong>sidered for<br />
2010/2011. He suggested that the CoP should now move <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> more focused thematic smaller<br />
workshops (as discussed in GTWS) <strong>on</strong> aspects of <str<strong>on</strong>g>SAR</str<strong>on</strong>g> in the c<strong>on</strong>text of JECAM. Proposals<br />
for hosting workshops are welcome.<br />
There is a need for <strong>on</strong>going community interacti<strong>on</strong>s through the CoP, in order <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> make a<br />
str<strong>on</strong>ger community voice in GEO. The CoP should implement recommendati<strong>on</strong>s arrived at<br />
by c<strong>on</strong>sensus, and they should lobby decisi<strong>on</strong>-makers. There is a need <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> fully integrate <str<strong>on</strong>g>SAR</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
practiti<strong>on</strong>ers in<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> the GEO Ag 0703 Task, but he would not recommend a <str<strong>on</strong>g>SAR</str<strong>on</strong>g> CoP.<br />
