3.10 Conditional factors: the at() function 30An alternative method is to specify a filename as the value of the start.values argument.This creates a comma separated text file with a header line and columns containingthe component name and its initial state. After editing with an external text editor orspreadsheet program, the new initial values can be used by specifying the text file nameas the value of the G.param argument. For example, the following call creates a commaseparated textfile (filename ) for editing> nin89.sv nin89.asr
3.13 Generalized linear models 313.11 WeightsWeighted analyses are achieved by using the weights = wt argument to asreml, wherewt is a variate in the data frame. If these are relative weights (to be scaled by theunits variance) then this is all that is required; for exammple, the number of samplingunits (wt=c(3, 1, 3, . . . )). If they are absolute weights, that is, the reciprocal of knownvariances, the units variance should be constrained to 1. This can be done by one of twoways:1. one of the methods described in Section 3.9.1, that is, editing a default R parameterlist object with asreml.gammas.ed() (start.values=T) or create and edit an externaltext file with start.values=”filename”, changing the constraint of the units varianceto F.2.
