Student Feedback & LeadershipIssues related to service provision:––Lecturers can’t make improvements to <strong>feedback</strong> if the facilities <strong>and</strong>technology are unreliable.––Importance of quick responses from service providers when problemsarise – having this happening now is a significant help to lecturers.Issues related to transition––Encouraging <strong>student</strong>s to become adult learners – self actualised <strong>student</strong>sis essential. This is a particular problem <strong>for</strong> first year <strong>student</strong>s.4. How has your participation in this project increased your knowledgeabout how to enhance <strong>student</strong> learning <strong>and</strong> improve learning <strong>and</strong>teaching practice?––The project <strong>and</strong> initiatives trialled have provided valuable insights.5. Do you see what you have done in this project as a <strong>for</strong>m of <strong>leadership</strong>?Please explain.––It has been recognised by the school that we are being proactive in thisarea <strong>and</strong> that improvements are being made.6. How will the knowledge <strong>and</strong> experience you gained affect your futurepractice in enhancing <strong>student</strong> learning <strong>and</strong> learning <strong>and</strong> teaching practiceacross the university?––Course developments will continue based on building on the experiencefrom this project.7. What would you like to see happen across RMIT as a result of theknowledge <strong>and</strong> skills you have learnt <strong>and</strong> the improvements you havemade to the <strong>student</strong> learning experience?––The project has identified the need to develop a program to assist<strong>student</strong>s in developing the skills to become independent adult learnersas a part of a broader transition program <strong>for</strong> first year <strong>student</strong>s.––Workplans <strong>for</strong> staff should be designed to enable all staff membersto gain experience with all levels of <strong>student</strong>s. This is particularly importantas <strong>feedback</strong> is being seen as an important factor linked to promotion.8. What future contribution, role, would you like to have in the ongoingprocess of improving the <strong>student</strong> experience?– – Course development is an ongoing endeavour <strong>and</strong> criticalas technologies, <strong>student</strong> expectation <strong>and</strong> discipline specificcontent evolves.Page 116
