<strong>Skanska</strong>’s role in the community<strong>Skanska</strong> develops and builds homes, workplaces, schools, hospitals, highways — environmentsfor people, built by people. This obligates to think long-term and responsibly, for sustainability,while remaining open to the views <strong>of</strong> everyone impacted by the operations.<strong>Skanska</strong> endeavors to act responsibly in the communitieswhere it has operations and to consequently strengthenrelationships in home markets and create a sense <strong>of</strong>pride among both internal and external stakeholders.Being a responsible and appreciated member <strong>of</strong> thecommunity encompasses both the manner in which toexecute projects and the manner in which to contributeto the community in general. In the home markets,<strong>Skanska</strong> contributes with the expertise by increasingknowledge about safety, the environment and technology.<strong>Skanska</strong> also supports other local community initiativesthat are in line with the local operations and the Code<strong>of</strong> Conduct.Policy for <strong>Skanska</strong>’s role in the community<strong>Skanska</strong>’s Corporate Community Involvement (CCI)policy is part <strong>of</strong> the Company’s social action plan within<strong>Skanska</strong>’s Sustainability Agenda. The policy will createthe framework for uniform and consistent actionsthroughout the entire company, with a focus on ourhome markets.<strong>Skanska</strong>’s community initiatives are primarily directedtoward education in three areas by sharing know-howand experience, that can promote positive socialdevelopment.Safety – contribute knowledge in the area <strong>of</strong> safety, andsupport safe workplace initiatives.Green know-how – support local green educationinitiatives connected with the built environment.Technical know-how – actively spread technical knowledgeto enable smart solutions for the community.<strong>Skanska</strong> can also participate in other types <strong>of</strong> communityactivities requested by local community groups,provided that education have first been <strong>of</strong>fered butdeclined.<strong>Skanska</strong>’s community involvement should not beconfused with sponsorship, which is a marketing activityconnected to business operations and regulated by aseparate sponsorship policy.CCI entails active involvement, by the Company andits employees. Participation must be based on <strong>Skanska</strong>’score competence and be in line with the Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct.Particular emphasis is placed on potential partners alsomaintaining high ethical standards.The community activities are coordinated by localbusiness units in the home markets and supported bya Group-wide network for exchanging experience.Operations impact social developmentCustomers and users<strong>Skanska</strong>’s earnings are achieved throughwell-executed projects that are pr<strong>of</strong>itablefor the Company, as well as for customersand users. <strong>Skanska</strong> continuously buildsup knowledge <strong>of</strong> its customers by maintaininga presence in selected markets.ShareholdersA financially strong and sound companyis the foundation for capital marketconfidence in <strong>Skanska</strong>.
