Upgrade <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> Server on Windows Platforms1. Stop the existing server instance using the Windows Services Control Panel.2. Follow the instructions that apply, depending on whether you use the <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong>built-in database or an external database:o If you use the built-in <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> database, the upgrade process will migrateyour database schema to the latest edition. Note that PostgreSQL itself is notupgraded to the latest version that ships <strong>with</strong> <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong>. The databaseserver remains the one installed when you first installed <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> Server.o If using an external database, back it up.3. Archive your previous <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> Server directory so that if you wish you can revertto the previous version.4. Run the <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> installer in upgrade mode:c:\hyperic\hyperic-hq-installer\setup.bat -upgrade5. Acknowledge the <strong>VMware</strong> license agreement.6. The installer prompts for the path to the previous <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> Server instance. Enterthe full path to your existing server installation, for instance:c:\hyperic\server-5.0.07. The installer prompts for the path where the upgrade version should be installed. Enterthe path to the directory that will contain the new server installation. For instance, toinstall the new instance under your existing <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> home directory:c:\hyperic\The installer will finish the upgrade.8. Update the Windows Service <strong>with</strong> the new version information:c:\hyperic\server-5.1.0\bin\hq-server.bat install9. Start the upgraded <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> Server using the Windows Services Control Panel.Upgrade <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> AgentsSee the instructions in Upgrade <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong> Agent.Uninstalling an AgentIf the agent is managed by <strong>vFabric</strong> <strong>Hyperic</strong>, remove the platform for the agent beforeuninstalling it. Then, simply delete the agent's installation folder.If the agent is installed the agent as a Windows service, run hq-agent.bat remove toremove the Windows service.97
