The college andthe Depot area are logical termini for the corridor. Thiscorridor will include some of the uses that Lawrencevillebelieves will be impacted by the future development alongthe corridor and will eventually transition from the existingland uses as the transportation systems are improved in thecorridors and as property values rise. • Provide entertainment areas along the Depot that willencourage interaction between the college anddowntown.Recommended Development Strategies• In 2008 Lawrenceville has initiated a study for road andland use improvement along the Collins Hill Road,Northdale Road, and North Clayton Street corridors.This study will seek Livable Communities Initiative (LCI)status, and will focus on widening and improving thetransportation corridor to create “College Avenue”.• Support current GDOT plans for creating a gradeseparation at Collins Hill Road and SR316.• Support the creation of a multi-purpose (bicycle andwalking) trail under the current SR316 bridge along thecollege campus road frontage.• Support and encourage continued efforts to establish a“brain train” multimodal station near the old depotlocation at North Clayton Street.• Support and interact with the College Master Plan.• Adopt policy that encourages the redevelopment of oldduplexes, condominiums and apartments complexesalong Hurricane Shoals Road and Northdale Road intomixed use high quality multi-family housing for collegestudents, faculty, and staff.• Encourage the promotion of an entertainment and artsdevelopment and eclectic redevelopment of old housesand warehouses between the old depot area and thedowntown square.City of Lawrenceville 2 - 10Comprehensive Plan 2030Adopted VersionCommunity Agenda 6 October 2008
