Protect and preserve established neighborhoodsincluding those of historical significance to theCity.Improve and rehabilitate existing neighborhoods by: Eliminating or minimizing the impact of blightingfactors such as incompatible land uses and highvolume traffic routes. Upgrading public facilities and services. Providing basic amenities such as parks and openspace. Encouraging the rehabilitation and/orreplacement of substandard residentialstructures. Promote the preservation of older or historichomes through adaptive reuse, and reviewexisting policies to determine if appropriatedesign guidelines are needed. Provide transition in scale and/or land usebetween high and low intensity land uses. Provide opportunities for higher densityresidential development to serve as a bufferbetween non­residential nodes and surroundingsingle­family detached neighborhoods. Permit residential/mixed uses while maintainingthe retail character of local streets. Retain single­family housing as the predominanthousing type in Lawrenceville.
