Desired Development Patterns• Existing neighborhoods should foster a pedestrianfriendly environment.• Where possible, greenspace and pocket parks should belocated in or adjacent to these neighborhoods toincrease connectivity with other areas of Lawrenceville.Recommended Development StrategiesExisting Development• New housing units in the sub-area should be designed toreflect the architectural characteristics of the adjacenthomes.• Adjacent non-residential development should bedesigned to be compatible with these neighborhoods.• These older neighborhoods should be preserved andstabilized through careful monitoring of special userequests and quality of life issues (i.e., codeenforcement).Infill Development• Encourage traditional neighborhood and conservationsubdivision developments that by their nature provide avariety of housing options. The variety of housingoptions should be complimentary of the surroundinghousings so as not to devalue existing establishedproperties.• Develop design and higher architectural standards forresidential areas that are coordinated with traditionalmasonry design.• Provide good vehicular and pedestrian/bike connectionsto: adjacent retail / commercial services; adjacentproperties / subdivisions, and regional network ofgreenspace and trails.• Street design should include traffic-calming measuresand should allow for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.Example of third boomneighborhood.Third Boom Neighborhoods (circa 1992 ­present)General Description and Boundary AreaThird boom neighborhoods are found in a mixture of infilldevelopment adjacent to older neighborhoods and on theouter edges of Lawrenceville.
